START OF SOMETHING NEW| Today, we witnessed the demoliton of what has been known as the Band Room for 40+ years. There have been several music teachers use this building to instruct students in choir and band.
While seeing each brick fall is sentimental to many, it is also the sign of something new to happen - the brand new Dragon Arena and Activities Center, which will include facilities for the Dragon Music Department.
Congratulations to these students for their work! Thank you to our local VFW for partnering with our English teachers and sponsoring the Voices Of Democracy competition to make this opportunity available to our students. We are blessed to have community partnerships that support learning AND build community.
MES Readers: One School One Book: Zoey and Sassafras: Dragons and Marshmallows by Asia Citro Today is Day Three: Chapters 6-7; pgs. 38-44. Today's video reading is of Officer Vence Carmack, SRO at MES.

What is Chronic Absenteeism?
A student who misses 10% or more of their school days, which averages to just two days a month, for any reason, is considered chronically absent. Every absence, excused or unexcused, (including suspensions), is a learning opportunity lost. Chronically absent students are more likely to fall behind academically and less likely to graduate from high school. Addressing chronic absenteeism and developing good attendance habits is a solvable problem for which we all share responsibility.
