Mountainburg Schools is thinking of all of our families and community members who have been affected by yesterday’s severe thunderstorms. We know many of our neighbors are still without power, and we want to make sure you know that you have a place to go.
Our safe room will be open today until dark for anyone who needs a cool, comfortable place to escape the heat or needs a place to charge phones and other essential devices.
Please remember that no pets are allowed in the safe room. We also ask that you take all personal belongings with you when you leave.
We are proud to be part of a community that looks out for one another. Please take care of yourselves, check on your neighbors, and know that Mountainburg Schools is here to help however we can. Stay safe, Mountainburg!

From the Boys and Girls Club: Please remember that when the school is closed, the Mountainburg Boys and Girls Club will also be closed. No services will be available on Tuesday, August 18.

Mountainburg Schools will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, August 18, due to damage caused by today’s storms.
The storms have impacted power service to the school. OG&E has indicated that power will not be restored in time for school to safely open tomorrow morning.
For the safety of our students and staff, Mountainburg Schools will remain closed tomorrow. We appreciate your patience and understanding as crews continue working to restore power and address the storm damage.
We will provide additional updates as they become available.

The Mountainburg Board of Education meeting scheduled for tonight (August 17), has been postponed to Monday, August 24.
URGENT MESSAGE: At this time, the Administration and the Transportation Director have determined that it is not going to be feasible for Mountainburg school buses to run routes this afternoon due to downed trees and power lines. We are asking that parents/guardians make arrangements for your child to be picked up or go to your child's campus to check them out.

Good afternoon parents. All students are safe and sound on their campuses. The power is out at school and throughout town, but students will be fed as soon as possible. No power, means the phones do not work at the campuses. In the event you need to contact someone, please use the ParentSquare app or email your principal. They will do their best to monitor their emails today.

Please see the attached letter from our Superintendent regarding an important school safety matter. We appreciate the continued vigilance and cooperation of our families and community.
It's not too late to join our MJH or MHS Cheer teams- 7th through 12th graders are eligible! Next week we will be holding try-outs for our regular sideline teams for football, basketball, and competition and our Competition Only spots! Sideline team runs from now until the end of February; Competiton Only runs from the end of September until the end of December! Any questions, email mary.hecox@mountainburg.org!
Practice Clinic days will be next Tuesday-Thursday 3:30-5:30! Then try-outs will be on Friday! We will be in Carl D.
Rogers gym. Come join in the fun and help us share our Dragon pride and spirit with our school and community! If you have a conflict with a day next week but want to try-out- we can work around other sports and school commitments!
**Parent Pick-Up Reminder: MMS & MHS Students**
Parents and guardians picking up MMS or MHS students will use the parent pick-up area at the high school**.
Please enter campus ONLY through Pecan Street, which is the main entrance into the high school parking lot. This is the road across from Neon Moon.
Do not use any other campus entrance for parent pick-up. Buses will be entering campus by the Administration Building to line up on the bus loading road. This includes the north and south exits that the buses use when leaving campus. Using those entrances can create congestion and is potentially not safe for our staff and students.
The map below should explain the direction of parent pick-up.

Congratulations to Vera Vichaivattana for shooting the low score in today's match vs. Paris and Greenland! Vera shot a personal best of 40 and earned medalist honors for her outstanding performance. Way to go, V!
Congratulations to our Dragon golf team for their win over Paris and Greenland tonight at home! Dallan Turner shot the low score of 38, followed by Boston Mondt(41), Caed Cowett(41), and Brayden Dudley(42). Freshman, Scout Knoner continues to improve and came in with a score of 43. Congratulations, Dragons!
Today, the teachers from MMS and MHS came together for a final workshop before the new year begins.
The teachers learned strategies to keep students engaged in class. The presenters had great activities that teachers participated in.

Thank you to all of our parents, guardians, and students who joined us for our 2026 Open House at MMS and MHS. We had a fantastic turnout, and it was wonderful to see so many familiar faces back in the building and filling our hallways once again. It was also a great time to get to meet the new faces that will be at our campuses this year.
Your support, enthusiasm, and partnership mean so much as we prepare to begin another exciting school year. We can't wait to welcome everyone for the first day of school and look forward to a year filled with learning, growth, and success.
