What is Chronic Absenteeism?
A student who misses 10% or more of their school days, which averages to just two days a month, for any reason, is considered chronically absent. Every absence, excused or unexcused, (including suspensions), is a learning opportunity lost. Chronically absent students are more likely to fall behind academically and less likely to graduate from high school. Addressing chronic absenteeism and developing good attendance habits is a solvable problem for which we all share responsibility.
Need help reaching good attendance?
Call your school office for assistance and let's help them stay Dragon💙Strong.

WEAR PURPLE| November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month. Many could name someone they lost due to this cancer. Most recently, we lost a Dragon fan and mother, Jamie Pense. Another true Dragon fan, Danny Cochran, the namesake of the golf tournament held in the summer, passed in 2017 from this cancer.
Both Jamie and Danny fought hard against pancreatic cancer, but as Danny always said, "Trust the Outcome."
Wear purple to the basketball games on Monday, November 20 in memory of Jamie Pense and Danny Cochran.

Today was the conclusion of our One School, One Book event. We finished with a school experiment to see which foods Mountainburg Dragons liked! We tasted most of the items that Zoey tried to feed to the baby dragon on page 49 of the book. It is official, Mountainburg Dragons love worms, gummy worms to be specific! A special thank you to the elementary PTO for providing the supplies for the experiment. Keep reading, Dragons!
