Middle School Teacher (posted 1/19/21)Mountainburg Middle School Brain Academy team invites dedicated, energetic teachers to apply to join the MMSBA team.  Mountainburg Middle School Brain Academy is a public conversion charter school designed to teach the way the brain learns.  The mission of Mountainburg Middle School Brain Academy is to ensure high levels of learning for all in an environment that promotes wellness and brain development and allows students to investigate their potential in areas such as STEM research.

Utilizing brain breaks and an outdoor challenge course to encourage, chart, and assess student growth in physical health and achievement is a new research-based intervention that MMSBA is implementing. The School also has plans to adjust its methods of instruction and curriculum to provide academic challenges to students. Brain-based learning focuses on recognizing stressing factors, minimizing cognitive load, and teaching coping strategies. Teachers work together in collaborative teams as a professional learning community.

MMSBA Administration and staff are completing a series of professional development sessions with brain expert and author Liesl McConchie.  With a focus on student achievement, MMSBA has selected two research-based curriculums: Wit and Wisdom as the literacy curriculum and Project Lead the Way as the science curriculum. They were also able to purchase the outdoor challenge course which will be used frequently throughout the school days as students take multiple extended brain breaks.
